Attendance

We hope that all children will attend school regularly and avoid absence at any time except if it is unavoidable.

It is possible to request a leave of absence for a family holiday in term time but parents need to be aware that government guidelines state that children may only be absent for the purposes of a family holiday for a maximum of two weeks in any school year.

There are certain times when absence will not be authorised and they are as follows: -

  • The holiday is planned for the first half of the Autumn term.
  • It is planned for a Year 6/Year 2 child in SATs week.
  • It is planned for a Year 6/Year 2 child during preparation for SATs.
  • The child's attendance falls below 92%.
  • Internal assessments are taking place at the time.

If your child is unable to come to school because of illness or accident please could parents make sure that the school office is informed as soon as possible either by telephone or by sending a note explaining the absence.

The law requires that absences be authorised and we cannot authorise an absence where an acceptable reason has not been given.
