About Us

The Ellis Church of England Primary School provides education in accordance with the principles and practices of the Church of England for children whose parents are active member of the Church of England or whose parents express a wish for a Christian education.

Within the school, the delivery of the National Curriculum is informed by our understanding of the Christian Gospel.

The Ellis School is one of the family of schools in the Sheffield Diocese and, although it is the village school for Hemingfield, several of our children come here from the surrounding area because their parents want their children to attend a school where the Christian ethos is important.

Our status as a Church of England Aided School means that almost all of our Religious Education is Christian although, of course, we help the children to understand the multicultural nature of our modern society.

The Ellis is a Church of England School and our teaching of Religious Education and our assemblies reflect this. We are, however, the school for the village of Hemingfield and, should parents wish to withdraw their children from Religious Education or Acts of Worship, please contact the Headteacher.
